Affliction Warlocks - Naxxramas Arachnid Quarter!

Strategy!!! Yay!! This is obviously part one of five of a series on how to do all the bosses of Naxxramas..This is NOT a guide to your cast sequence, that's a whole other post entirely, and it is also a guide for HEROIC (25 man) Naxx, as the strategies will apply to 10 man easier than a 10 man guide would apply to a 25 man (wow that sounded confusing. So lets cut the BS and get this ball rolling...

Anub'Rekhan

This is THE easiest fight in all of Naxx..and he also drops the best wand for us! So how can we contribute to this battle?

To start...at the beginning of the battle..you're going to cast a Curse of Doom on Anub..and then you are going to plop down a Demonic Circle: Summon near him. Then immediately start DPSing the guardians that the off tanks are holding for you and the other DPSers.

Once they're dead, you may full time DPS on Anub...keeping a good distance from him (inside that green circle in the middle is a good start)..and if he Impales you (aka..spikes you into the air)..pop the Demonic Circle: Teleport to not only avoid fall damage, but to also get an extra 4 seconds for DPSing.

Stay out of his AoE range at all times to avoid silence via his locust swarm..and you're good to go.

Grand Widow Faerlina

Another easy one, providing your healers are on the ball. I'm going to explain the way my group does it (some call it hard more...I think its EASIER personally)...so obviously this isn't the be all end all of strategies.

Our way involves burning down all of the lesser mobs while avoiding Grand Widow entirely until they're dead. This won't dispel her frenzy, but really..if your healers are good...you wont have a problem.

First things first...the offtanks should be keeping all the Worshippers and Followers grouped up on the platform they are at in the beginning, and the main tank taking Faerlina off to the back near the door where you came in from. Seed of Corruption the minions...they wont live long.

Once they're all dropped...once again..just DPS the hell out of the boss.

Under no circumstances should you use Rain of Fire. She herself casts it and it will get VERY confusing for the entire raid over whether or not they are standing in the fire that's yours..and the one that will kill them. Its a good idea to also tell your raid in advance that you will NOT be using it, so that IF they see it..they need to move.

Maexxna

The last boss of the wing...and also another easy one for us. The only real trick here is being on the same page as the rest of your raid over what everyone is doing. Under no conditions should an affliction warlock be assigned to web wrap duty. Our cast times are slow, and it screws up our DoT refreshing. Nor is it a good idea for us to be on add killing either. Those spiders are best dealt with by melee DPSers.

That out of the way...its time to give you how I handle this fight. To start..before the fight begins..I like to bring out a Doomguard. The powerhouse DPSer that he is will not only be a great way to maximize damage, but he has a rain of fire that can assist on the adds just in case the melee are having issues.

You will want to stay as far away from Maexxna at all times...for 2 reasons. One..you are out of range for her Poison shock (tho the tank should be keeping her turned away from the raid anyway)..and also just in case you get wrapped you are closer to the wall..less air time..less down time :) It's also a good idea to pop a Demonic portal again in the start of this fight so that if you DO get wrapped..you can get back to your DPS position instantly.

So there you have it. The first wing of Naxx down...stay tuned for part 2 :)
